The UEFA website has got this down as being a back three of Stokes-Houghton-Turner with Kirby and Davison in as left and right wingbacks respectively. Potter and Scott in central midfield. Christiansen in front of them. Carter and Clarke up top.

If this plays out like previous games against small opposition then everybody will bomb forward bar Houghton and perhaps Turner. The rest are far too attack minded to actually stay in position when facing a team who aren't likely to pose any threat at all. We saw it multiple times in the World Cup qualifiers - give it 10 minutes and there won't be a recognisable formation anymore, it will resemble a school yard kick about with everybody wanting the ball up near the box.

Any thoughts on the team against Bosnia tomorrow? I'm having a hard time predicting one since we don't really know the fitness of players coming off the Germany game. I think Sampson will stay with the 4-3-3,

Bardsley (although i would like to see Telford), Turner (Bronze if fit), Houghton, Bassett, Greenwood, Williams (or Christiansen if Fara's not fit), Scott, Nobbs, Duggan, Davison, Aluko

I would go B Team as much as possible if it was up to me. The World Cup qualifiers really should have taught him that he can afford to do genuine rotation and experimentation.

The midfield picks itself purely because he didn't call up enough options to go with an alternate. But he has that in the other areas. So I would like to see Telford, Flaherty, Turner and Christiansen start. Davison would also be nice. And even Rose as well if I'm being greedy. I don't really want to see Kirby again, but at the same time her confidence looks shot to pieces right now so Bosnia might go some way towards fixing that.

But I just can't see him resting the players which would need to be rested in order to put what I want to see on the pitch. I expect him to go with as strong a side as possible. And then do the usual OTT act trying to fool us all into thinking that was necessary.

I think there will be a good chance that some of those start or at least see a good amount of playing time. Flaherty started and played the full 90 against Germany (and was quite good beside the captain) so I can't see her playing a part tomorrow. But it's a real possibility that he will give Telford at least a half and I honestly don't think that Bronze will be physically up to two day turn around time so that only leaves Turner as replacement. Williams is harder to gauge, but I think that Sampson will at least start her and have her on for 45 to 60 minutes before bringing Christiansen on for her.

I would love to see Bassett and Rose start at centre back just for a viable rotation but I can't see him not playing Houghton for the first home game since the world cup. I don't want to see Kirby play at all but I wouldn't be surprised if she does. He doesn't have to pick a strong side to win comfortably and I'd imagine the camp is buzzing and full of confidence from their solid performance in Germany so that will help them going into the qualifier. It's their first home game I hope they enjoy themselves on the pitch and give the crowd a lot to cheer for.

I don't think this game coming straight after Germany and the same squad being used for both
has allowed him to select and approach the game against Bosnia as you would if it were a stand alone fixture. What was needed for Germany and what could be done tomorrow are chalk and cheese, there isn't really a middle ground to be found there. So I expect tomorrow's line up will be stronger than necessary, because stronger than necessary is what he has at his disposal thanks to the fact it will have been picked with Germany in mind. I'll excuse him for it this once. So long as we get some real experimentation on another day.

Do we know if Bassett had a problem which kept her out of the Germany game? Or did he just opt for Flaherty instead.

I have't heard anything, I wondered if he was keeping her for tomorrows game since it will be in from of the home crowd.

I think he would have called up this squad even if we only had qualifiers and not the Germany game. He picked strong sides for pretty much all the world cup qualifiers, I think the last qualifier squad was "weak' due to injury not necessarily wanted experimentation.

And that is something which I would like to see him move away from. But I don't think he will though. I don't think he actually can to a large extent. Those central contracts tie one hand behind his back. It would take a fair bit of juggling to balance genuine experimentation with the central contract eligibility regs. And not only that but some of the undroppables would have to take a turn being left at home.

If he reverts to using three centre halves again there is room for all of Bassett, Rose and Houghton to start. Whoever plays wide is going to be advanced for 90 minutes anyway so today might not be a bad day to give that back three come back five system another run out. He doesn't need five actual defenders in it though because that's overkill for somebody like B&H. Stokes on the left and maybe Davison on the right as wingbacks/wingers. I think he has done that before?

I'll be surprised if Rose gets a game though considering she wasn't an original inclusion.

So I take it Bassett was rested against Germany because he planned to use her for the DM role today? Make sense I suppose. But I'm still not sure why Chapman or Potter couldn't have just done it if they aren't injured.

That's more rotation than I thought we were going to get. But I'm disappointed that that attitude hasn't extended to the goalkeepers. I don't see why Telford couldn't start this one.

I see it more as a back three but Bassett may move up to the DM role when in possession. Turner and Stokes wing backs, Christiansen and Nobbs as CM and the front three. I see Sampson trotted the old captain out for this game, I'd rather have seen the future with Rose but I guess it was inevitable with them honoruring the players with over 100 caps. Now it all is down to how fast we can break Bosnia down and how fit they are.

I don't see why Telford couldn't start this one.

I'm going she comes in at the start of the second half.

The BBC have it down as a 4-4-1-1. Turner, Houghton, Stoney, Stokes - Clarke, Bassett, Nobbs, Davison - Christiansen - Aluko. I don't suppose it matters really, because if this turns out anything like our previous games against sides who put up no fight we will see everybody just bombing on and to hell to with having a shape.

Very unlucky for Nobbs. I bet she couldn't make it bounce straight down on the line twice.

Very true, these games are so useless. Belgium might give us some problems but this is an easier group then the world cup qualifiers and we cruised through those.

I see Davison has switched sides already. Much to the delight of the Bosnian right back.

How many times in an average match do you think Davison wishes she could throttle Aluko and Kirby for missing goals she puts on a plate for them Laughing

This is a very disjointed England side. I appreciate that Bosnia is sitting deep but they should have converted one of these corners by now. Of course it will help if Bosnia's goalie goes off. I like Sue but I think Lucy Ward gives better colour analysis.
