Ticket Prices

I've been seeing a lot of people complaining lately about ticket price increases, even when just hypothetically muted to gauge opinion. Notts County caused a real meltdown on twitter when they mentioned the subject a couple of months ago. I can't decided if I think the complaints are warranted of if people are actually just being ridiculous kicking up a fuss over a raise which amounts to less than a quid per game and still puts them at a fiver a go. Thoughts anybody?

Football is a business and especially so at this level when you're rummaging down the back of the sofa for spare change. Tickets are pretty much the only main source of revenue which isn't just handed to you from your affiliated men's club. When you are only charging between £5-6 per adult per game and that was the standard norm during the semi-pro era then now we have switched to professional operation increases are inevitable, justified and in my opinion welcome.

A lot of the complaints comes from those well known for taking advantage of dirt cheap football by watching as many games of as many clubs as they can. They are a minority and nobody should be expected to keep their prices down so said minority can have season tickets for multiple clubs. You keep the fans who want to do that satisfied by having price increases coincide with the introduction of league wide schemes to give them discount--things like a stand-alone general WSL season ticket, something which they can use to gain reduced entry at any ground which is not their nominated home ground. And if they feel the cost of buying such a thing is still too expensive for them they simply aren't attending enough matches away from their favourite club to be offended by an extra pound here and there.

I couldn't agree more. It's surprising that Notts and Birmingham City fans are complaining so much since their men side will not put the amount of money in that Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea will so ticket revenue is one of the ways they can bring in money for players to stay and attract more quality players. I think anything under 20 is justifiable. Clubs should look into streaming home and away games online and charging a fee to watch them to help bring in more revenue as well.
